Diminished value evidence checklist

A strong file lets another person see the accident, repairs, vehicle, market evidence, and negotiation history without guessing.

Quality matters more than volume

Ten weak listings do not become strong evidence because there are ten of them. Use comparable vehicles from the same market, explain differences, save the listing date and VIN when available, and separate asking prices from confirmed sale prices.

Keep the two disputes separate

A coverage dispute asks whether the policy or applicable law includes diminished value. A valuation dispute asks how much market loss exists. An appraisal can help with the second problem but may not solve the first.
